Breath Interrupted

Breath Interrupted documents a closed recording session and a live performance by the Inflorescence ensemble at the "You Are Here Festival 2015." Tracks from the closed session are interspersed throughout the recording to "interrupt" the flow of the live performance. It can be seen as a metaphor for the way things grow, or for how we hear this and any music, never without outside influence.

The Inflorescence Ensemble is a cross art-form collective made up of some of Australia’s most acclaimed artists and unique emerging musical voices. Their work centres on the subject of pollination and features immersive and interactive installations created by artist Dianne Fogwell. The group present new musical compositions based on Dianne's artwork which constantly blurs the lines between composition and improvisation, finding exciting points of tension and concurrence between electronic and acoustic sound. The ensemble is drawn to the notion of pollination and cross-pollination as a metaphor for music making and the inherent entanglement of relationships found between the makers and the environment.
